To mark the awarding of Fairtrade Zone Status to Bassetlaw, the
District Council held a Civic Reception for the Fairtrade for Bassetlaw
Group on March 16th 2010 at Worksop Town Hall, hosted by the Chair of
District, Cllr Helen Cotton. This was a chance to celebrate our achievement of
being awarded Fairtrade Zone Status and to hand out Certificates of
Appreciation to some of the organisations who have helped us
achieve this. There are photos from the Reception on our Gallery pages and also another page of photos from giving out Certificates to those organisations who couldn't get to the Reception. |

Bassetlaw Achieve Fairtrade Status !In September 2009, after just one year of campaigning by Fairtrade for Bassetlaw, we have achieved our initial goal of becoming a Fairtrade Zone. To do this we have had to show the Fairtrade Foundation that there are enough shops, cafes, restaurants, employers big & small, places of worship & voluntary groups that use or sell Fairtrade products and also that we have the backing of the District Council. That we could do this demonstrates that the people of North Nottinghamshire care about Fairtrade not just for themselves but also for those struggling to make a better life for themselves. |
