Bassetlaw Fairtrade Directory

Christians are required to do justice (Micah 6:8) and help the needy (Mt 25: 31-46). One way that we, as individuals and churches, can respond to this is by supporting Fairtrade. Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions, sustainable development and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world.

Is your church supporting Fairtrade?
Since the drive to get Fairtrade status for Bassetlaw began in September 2008 many of the Places of Worship in the District have been contacted. To date 43 are either regularly using Fairtrade products or have registered as Fairtrade churches.

What do you have to do?
Decide to use Fairtrade products regularly, eg tea and coffee, after services and in all meetings for which you have responsibility; or, if you wish to register as a Fairtrade Church you have to meet 2 additional goals:- Move forward on using other Fairtrade products and promote Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight - and through other activities whenever possible.

If you wish to know more about this and the procedure for registering your church, visit the website of the Fairtrade Foundation at www.fairtrade.org.uk

If your church is already 'on board' but isn't included below, let us know so it can be added to the list, contact our Churches Coordinator (churches@fairtradeforbassetlaw.org.uk) or our Secretary (secretary@fairtradeforbassetlaw.org.uk - 01909 485723).
